Phase-Referenced VLBA Observations of OH Masers at 4765 MHz
We report VLBA observations of maser emission from the rotationally excited Π1/2, J = 1/2 state of OH at 4765 MHz. We made phase-referenced observations of W3(OH) at both 4765 MHz and 1720 MHz and found emission in three fields within a ∼2000 AU diameter region and verified that in two of the three fields, 4765 MHz and 1720 MHz emission arise from the same position to within ∼4 mas (∼8 AU). We ...
متن کاملAstrometric accuracy of phase-referenced observations with the VLBA and EVN
Astrometric accuracy of complex modern VLBI arrays cannot be calculated analytically. We study the astrometric accuracy of phasereferenced VLBI observations for the VLBA, EVN and global VLBI array by simulating VLBI data for targets at declinations −25◦, 0◦, 25◦, 50◦, 75◦ and 85◦. The systematic error components considered in this study are calibrator position, station coordinate, Earth orienta...
متن کاملVLBA Observations of Blazars
VLBI observations of blazars provide the closest look at compact jets that are thought to be responsible for the variable emission of blazars from radio to γ-ray wavelengths. It appears that flux variability at different wavelengths is connected to changes in jet structure near its base. The changes happen on timescales of weeks or less, which require frequent VLBI monitoring to follow. Current...
متن کاملMulti - transition VLBA observations of circumstellar SiO
On this paper, we present simultaneous VLBA observations of the J=1–0 and J=2–1 rotational lines in the v=1 and v=2 vibra-tionally excited states of SiO (at λ ∼ 7 and 3 mm). We have mapped these four maser lines in the circumstellar envelopes of three AGB stars: IRC +10011, χ Cyg and TX Cam. We study the relative spatial distribution between these maser lines. In particular, for the two v=1 tra...
متن کاملVlba Observations of Z > 4 Radio-loud Quasars
We present high resolution (≤ 20 mas) observations of the radio continuum emission at 1.4 GHz from three high-redshift quasars: J1053−0016 (z = 4.29), 1235−0003 (z = 4.69), and J0913+5919 (z = 5.11), thereby doubling the number of z > 4 radio-loud quasars that have been imaged at mas resolution. The observations were carried out with the Very Long Baseline Array (VLBA) of the NRAO. All three so...
